Team Building 3: Tooth Pick Bridges (one box of flat toothpicks & one tube of glue … 8″ span … must have loading zone in the center of the bridge that is at least 3″x3″ where the test weights will be placed. Loading to failure … biggest weight supported wins. Construction will need to proceed outside of class due to glue drying times. Project start on Monday, testing on Friday.

Team Building 1. Egg Drop
We will be dropping your egg starting with 4 feet and progressing in height until only one egg survives (or we run out of height).

Materials that can be used.
one egg and one back-up egg
one magazine
one box of toothpicks
one banana

Tools that can be used.
one pair of children’s scissors
one ruler (twelve inches)

We will inspect the egg after every drop, so it must be accessible.
The banana will rot by Friday, so it can be incorporated into your design, but it must be easily included on the day of the drop.
Any damage to the egg will result in your design being rated for the previous height.

Bridge Design

Students will design a bridge using popsicle sticks, cable ties, duct tape, and string. The bridge will have to span a 5 foot span and survive Wolfgang driving across it. Support will be four cinder blocks, so approach and exit need to be included in the bridge design.
